In November of 1999, Morten Creek suffered a significant landslide. Although landslides are not uncommon, this one was particularly bad.
As you can see, this pool was pretty well filled in, not much fish habitat here. |

It's hard, dirty work, but well worth it. Trying to get a backhoe in here would have done a lot of damage to the riparian plants. |
Finally, once the digging is done, planting native plants along the bank helps to restore the riparian zone. |
