In November of 1999, Morten Creek suffered a significant landslide. Although landslides are not uncommon, this one was particularly bad.

Thanks the the District of North Vancouver, a crew was dispatched to "vacuum" out some of the mud.

It's hard, dirty work, but well worth it. Trying to get a backhoe in here would have done a lot of damage to the riparian plants.

Finally, once the digging is done, planting native plants along the bank helps to restore the riparian zone.		 More planting
