SUBJECT: BEST MANAGEMENT PRACTICES GUIDE

Dear Community Involvement Program Partner,
We are pleased to share the latest version of the DRAFT Best Management Practices (BMP) guide for the Community Involvement Program for your review and input. The goal of this document is to provide information and support to community groups so that enhancement activities are planned and carried out in compliance with aquaculture licence conditions and DFO protocols and policies.
While the BMPs will be finalized and distributed in the summer of 2013, groups are encouraged to start following these best practices immediately. We ask you to familiarize yourselves with the document and send feedback to your local DFO Community Advisor on this draft version up until May 1st, 2013. Input can be provided to the Community Advisor after completion of each of the following segments: Adult capture, transport and holding; Egg takes and incubation; Ponding, rearing and juvenile marking; and Juvenile Transport and Release.

Questions and/or feedback on the BMPs can also be directed to Brenda Donas via email at Brenda.Donas@dfo-mpo.gc.ca or via phone at 778-210-0741.

Sincerely,

Brenda G. Donas
